These places represent some of the most fascinating destinations for Easter vacations or in view of the good season. In Apulia there are "little jewels" that meet between the coast and the inland and that will make your vacations in Apulia really complete.

1. THE MAGIC OF LOCOROTONDO AND ITS "CUMMERSE"

The village of Locorotondo, whose name derives from the Latin "lucus rotundus", is located on a hill of Val d'Itria, represented by a group of houses that form a circular agglomerate.

The foundation dates back to around the year 1000 and its beauty lies in the narrow streets, whitewashed and ancient, but also in its many churches, traditions that live on in the patronal festivals and festivals. The cummerse are the characteristic roofs of the houses with two slopes finished with tiles, which enhance the architectural value.

The mother church of San Giorgio stands out with its neoclassical bell tower. Another church that I recommend you to visit is that of Madonna della Greca, in Romanesque style and with a beautiful rose window in the center. The area where Locorotondo rises is also called "Murgia dei Trulli" and one in particular you can admire in the historic center.

It is the oldest trullo in the village and dates back to '500 and is located in the district Marziolla. A unique naturalistic view of the Itria Valley can be seen by walking along via Nardelli. Among the most suggestive events in Locorotondo do not miss the representation of the Passion of Christ at Easter.

The peculiarity of these houses is their being built completely dry, with the roof composed of the typical "chiancole". This allowed the inhabitants not to pay taxes to the Kingdom of Naples, because the houses so would have been "temporary".

Alberobello is a World Heritage Site since '96 and the largest trullo is the "Sovereign", the only one with 2 floors, inside of which was set up a museum. The largest agglomeration of fifteen trulli communicating with each other you will find in the area of Casa Pezzolla.

They are the oldest in Alberobello because they date back to the 18th century. A walk through the streets of Alberobello will immerse you in a suggestive dimension, where there are small stores, stores and places where you can taste the delicacies of the typical cuisine.
