What is a masseria?
A masseria is a traditional fortified farmhouse found in southern Italy. Many have been carefully restored and now combine original stone architecture, courtyards and olive groves with accommodation and event spaces.
When should we start looking for a venue?
For a wedding between May and October, twelve to eighteen months ahead is a sensible starting point, especially if you have a fixed date or a specific venue in mind. The most sought-after weekends can disappear earlier.
Do wedding venues in Puglia have accommodation?
Some do, some do not, and the number of rooms varies widely. We often look at the venue and the surrounding accommodation together rather than treating them as two separate decisions.
Can we have exclusive use of the venue?
Often, yes, but it depends on the property and the dates. Exclusive use can affect privacy, music, timing, guest access and how freely the wedding weekend can be planned.
Are there wedding venues by the sea?
Yes. Savelletri, Monopoli, Polignano a Mare and parts of Salento all have properties where the coast becomes part of the celebration. The trade-off is often between a dramatic sea setting and the flexibility or privacy of a countryside estate.
Can international couples legally get married in Puglia?
Yes, but the paperwork depends on nationality and the type of ceremony. Some couples choose a legally recognised civil ceremony in Italy; others complete the legal formalities at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in Puglia.
